Conservative Radio Host Laura Ingraham Mocks Parkland Survivor David Hogg for College Rejections
Conservative radio host and author Laura Ingraham received widespread condemnation after she took to Twitter to mock Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting survivor David Hogg for not getting accepted into his top colleges.
Ingraham’s Wednesday tweet directed at the 17-year-old student-turned-gun control activist is the latest criticism from right-wing pundits. Ingraham, 54, was responding to an interview Hogg did with TMZ about his educational future in the midst of his newfound national fame. Hogg said his top four schools—UCLA, UC San Diego, UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine—rejected him despite his claim to a 4.1 GPA and a 1270 SAT score.
David Hogg Rejected By Four Colleges To Which He Applied and whines about it. (Dinged by UCLA with a 4.1 GPA...totally predictable given acceptance rates.) https://t.co/wflA4hWHXY

The Fox News contributor used the information to punch down at the high school senior expected to graduate this spring.
Ingraham, who graduated from Dartmouth College in 1985 and the University of Virginia School of Law in 1991, was ridiculed by fellow news media personalities and TMZ founder Harvey Levin. Many noted that political differences should not allow a grown woman with a national audience to put down a high school teen.
imagine being an adult who hates a teenager so much you pants him online for getting rejected by colleges https://t.co/RPw52nqq1h

“@IngrahamAngle David was not whining. I called him about the story. He was not feeling sorry for himself in the slightest. It was my idea that colleges should consider applicants who are so committed. Did you watch the video???” Levin replied.

“This is a really messed up thing to do to a kid, no matter your politics,” responded the Daily Beast’s Olivia Messier. “[I]magine being an adult who hates a teenager so much you pants him online for getting rejected by colleges,” tweeted Andrew Kirell, also of the Daily Beast.

Ingraham was not the only conservative personality taking shots at Hogg this week. Right-wing radio host Bill Mitchell responded by tweeting a Breitbart News story, "THE EGO ON THIS KID. David Hogg: I'm Changing the World, But UC Schools Still Rejected Me." On Sunday, Mitchell tweeted that Hogg should be cast as a creepy neo-Nazi character by a Hollywood agent.
"Central Casting called. They're looking for a Damien, Children of the Corn, Hitler Youth-type to cast in a flick about an Orwellian future where fear and emotionalism is used to subjugate a free people," wrote Mitchell.
