2018 Volvo XC60 Wins World Car of the Year Award
The Volvo XC60 has officially been crowned the 2018 World Car of the year as announced at the New York Auto Show.
The Volvo beat out the Mazda CX-5 and Range Rover Velar for the prestigious title, and that’s not an exaggeration, the World Car awards are the most media-covered car awards in the industry. It also follows up the World Car Person of the year win by Volvo President and CEO Håkan Samuelsson.
The Volvo XC60 was picked from an initial list of 34 vehicles, by a jury of 82 journalists from all over the world.
It was accompanied by other World Car winners, outlined below:
World Performance Car of the Year goes to the BMW M5
World Luxury Car of the Year was won by the Audi A8
World Green Car of the Year was won by the Nissan Leaf
World Urban Car of the Year goes to the VW Polo
World Car Design of the Year was taken home by Jaguar Land Rover for the Range Rover Velar.
