Election flying squad seizes vehicle in Udupi

An election flying squad under the leadership of IAS officer Poovitha seized a vehicle with banners bearing photographs of the Minister for Fisheries, Youth Empowerment and Sports, Pramod Madhwaraj, and the symbol of Congress party, near the Inspection Bungalow here on Wednesday.

Ms. Poovitha told The Hindu that a complaint was received regarding the vehicle in the morning. Immediately the squad rushed to the spot and seized it for violation of the model code of conduct at around 10 a.m. The vehicle had permission to operate from May 13 to May 31. But it was necessary to take permission again after the model code of conduct came into force yesterday. Hence a case had been registered. The vehicle was not owned by Mr. Madhwaraj, she said.
