Kathmandu, March 27
Bhaktapur Football Club, Bhaktapur United Club and Sirutar Sports Centre Club today withdrew their writ petition filed against Bhaktapur District Football Association at the district court.
BFC President Ram Prajapati, BUC President Rupesh Dhaubanjar and SSCC President Rajesh Thapa said they wanted to pave way for the elections of the All Nepal Football Association, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday. “We decided to withdraw the writ because we do not want ANFA to be suspended from FIFA and see Nepali footballers suffer. We want ANFA’s election to be held on time and let the elected body run football activities,” said Prajapati at a press meet.
Prajapati said they had moved the court after Bhaktapur FA did not allow them in its general assembly and President Gautam Sukhaju tried to play foul by including non-football clubs. “We can fight against the atrocities of Bhaktapur FA and its president Sukhaju later on but we don’t want to be the reason behind the postponement of ANFA elections,” he added.
The Bhaktapur FA had to postpone its general assembly because of the court orders and later on Sukhaju and Makawanpur FA senior vice-president Manish Shrestha moved the Patan High Court demanding the postponement of the ANFA elections demanding their inclusion in the congress.
The High Court last Friday issued an interim order against the ANFA not to hold the elections without including Bhaktapur and Makawanpur FAs, which resulted in the postponement of the 16th general assembly and elections of the football governing body.
