2018-03-28 17:20

Cape Town - Cape Town City have received a timely boost ahead of Sunday's Nedbank Cup quarter-final against Mamelodi Sundowns, as Matthew Rusike has been declared fit to play.

Club chairperson John Comitis has confirmed that Rusike has recovered from his hamstring injury for the crunch encounter at Cape Town Stadium looming.

"Rusike is back after recevoring from his injury,” Comitis was quoted by KickOff as saying. “Everyone is available for selection."

The match will kick off at 15:00 and the former Ajax Cape Town chairman is expecting a large turnout. He added: "We expect a bumper show and 20 000 fans at the stadium on Sunday.”

Sundowns, who are top of the league with a game in hand over the chasing pack, will pose a fierce challenge for Benni McCarthy's side. However, the hosts are able to welcome the return of star summer signing Rusike.

The Zimbabwean forward joined the club on a free transfer midway through this season.
