'I've done nothing wrong': ADFA cadet Sebastian Ellis acquitted of sexual assault

An Australian Defence Force Academy cadet accused of sexual assault was acquitted on Wednesday of all charges against him.

Sebastian Crago Ellis, 22, faced an ACT Supreme Court trial accused of six sexual offences against a Canberra university student allegedly committed in June and July 2016.

Last week, he was acquitted of rape and attempted rape, and on Wednesday the jury returned verdicts of not guilty on the remaining two counts, of unlawful assault and an act of indecency.

"Today, I've been acquitted of all charges against me. I've done nothing wrong. I have nothing to hide," Mr Ellis said when he addressed the media outside court after the verdicts.

"I'm glad that my name has finally been cleared.

"I firmly believe that any form of violence against women is unacceptable, sexual or otherwise. I have never committed such acts.

"I put my faith in our justice system and I respect the legal process that has now been completed.

"This has been the most stressful two years of my life. I am deeply grateful for the love and support of my family and friends throughout this difficult time."

Mr Ellis thanked his legal team and the people at ADFA who had supported him.

"I can't wait to get on with my life and my career in the army."
