International film fete for children next month

140 films to be screened at State’s first such venture

The State will host its first international film festival for children next month.

The festival, being organised by the Kerala State Council for Child Welfare, Kerala State Chalachitra Academy, Kerala State Film Development Corporation, and the State Institute of Children’s Literature, will be held in five cinemas across the State from May 14 to 20.

As many as 140 films, short films, and documentaries — four films in each cinema in a day — will be screened during the week-long fete.

A competition to pen appreciations of films will also be held for children as part of the fete.

Going beyond screening of films, the festival will provide an opportunity for children in tribal areas and in orphanages to watch the films. The children will be introduced to technical aspects of film-making besides being introduced to film appreciation. Yesteryear child artistes and those of today will be honoured. Open forums will also be held on all days.

The delegate fee is ₹150. Family pass will be available at ₹300, and a daily pass will cost ₹25.
