A Wednesday water main break means no water for residents and businesses between the 3500 block and the 3900 block of Lancaster Pike just outside Wilmington.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible as crews work, a Wilmington press release said. The construction had impacted traffic in the area as of 3:30 p.m.

Some of the affected businesses and residents included those on Mary Ella Drive, Simca Lane and Greenridge Road, as well as Odyssey and Academia Antonia Alonso charter schools. Also impacted were 7 Days Farmers Market, Papa John’s Pizza, Pat’s Pizzeria, Feby’s Fishery, Mercedes-Benz of Wilmington and Silver Springs Apartments.

The repair was expected to continue into the evening, city officials said.

Due to the extent of the damage, the city recommends people boil water as a precaution after the water is turned back on.
