‘Govt fined ₹50,000 by apex court’

Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari on Monday alleged that the Delhi government was fined ₹50,000 by the Supreme Court Bench hearing a public interest litigation on sealing.

He claimed the government was fined over its failure to submit the vision blueprint of the policy, as directed by the court, on excessive pollution, congestion and commercialisation. Mr. Tiwari said this was “yet another evidence of callousness” with which the Kejriwal government has been dealing with the entire issue, ultimately leading to widespread sealing in Delhi.

“Before hearing any petition for relief to traders from sealing the court wanted the government to submit a vision blueprint on how it proposes to deal with growing pollution and congestion, and to stop further illegal commercialisation but the government let traders down on Monday by not submitting any blueprint. As a result, the traders’ plea for relief from sealing will not get heard in the near future,” he claimed.
