EC announces schedule of Karnataka Assembly elections |

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced the schedule for the Assembly election in Karnataka.
Addressing a press conference in New Delhi, Chief Election Commissioner Om Prakash Rawat said, a single phase polling will be held in the state and voting will take place on 12th May for the all 224 seats .
He said, notification for the polls will be issued on 17th of next month and candidates can file nomination till 24th April.
Mr Rawat said, the results will be out on the 15th May. He said, VVPATs will be used with EVMs during the polling in over 56 thousand polling stations and over 4 crore 96 lakh people will exercise their franchise in the state.
The Chief Election Commissioner said 450 special polling stations will be managed by women and there will be special arrangements for Divyangjans. Mr Rawat said the limit for expenses for candidates is Rs. 28 lakh.
He said, the model code of conduct has come into effect in the poll-bound state.
Replying to a media query on leaking of election dates on social media before the official announcement, Mr Rawat said the poll panel will investigate the matter. He assured that actions legally and administratively befitting will be taken.
