A radio jockey was hacked to death on Monday night while he was sitting with his friend at his studio in Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, according to reports.

Police said 36-year-old Rajesh alias Rasikan Rajesh, who was also a folk singer, died at around 2 am at Metro Studio in Madavoor, according to The Times of India. Rajesh, along with his friend Kuttan, had just returned from a stage performance and were unloading their equipment when unidentified assailants came in a red car and attacked them with sharp weapons, the report said.

Both of them were rushed to the hospital by the police, who were alerted by the local residents, the report added.

CNN-News18 reported that Rajesh succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital, while Kuttan is currently recovering from his injuries.

The police has not identified the culprits and is yet to establish the motive behind the attack, the report said.

Rajesh had worked with Red FM as a RJ earlier, before joining the Kerala FM station in Doha, DNA reported, and had only recently returned from Qatar.

Rajesh is survived by his wife and son.
