VARANASI: At least three children were burnt alive when their hut caught fire at Tendu village under Robertsganj area in
UP's Sonbhadra district on Monday night.
According to reports, Sahana, a native of Tendu village, after taking food with her four children - Rukhsana (6), Parvinan (5), Shahid (4) and an infant - took them inside the hut on Monday night. After three children slept, she came outside the hut with the infant to sleep in the open.
After midnight, the hut caught fire. On sensing heat, Sahana woke up and raised an alarm. But before the villagers could reach there, the hut was burnt down completely. Due to this, Rukhsana, Parvinan and Shahid could not be rescued and died on the spot. The husband of Sahana who had gone out of station and could not be contacted.
Robertsganj police and officials of the district administration and the revenue department who reached there assured financial assistance for the victims' family. Police said that the cause of fire was not clear. The officials sent Sahana with the infant to her parents in Mangurahi village after sending the bodies for postmortem.
