The tableau honouring Shambhu Lal Regar.
On Ram Navami (birthday of Lord Ram), a tableau of Shambhu Lal Regar, who hacked a Muslim labourer to death, was taken out in a procession by Hindu outfits in Jodhpur.
In the pictures of the tableau, a man who bears a striking resemblance to Regar is seen sitting on a throne-like chair with a pickaxe in his hand.
He is seen dressed in clothes similar to what Regar was wearing when he allegedly committed the murder.
Regar hacked Bengali laborer Mohammed Afrazul to death in December last year.
He uploaded a series of videos, including the one of the crime, ranting against Muslims and accused them of converting Hindu girls to Islam.
Regar is presently housed in the Jodhpur Central Jail for Afrazul's murder.
The organisers of the procession who call Shambulal an inspiration said that there was no harm in carrying out his tableau.
"Regar's personality has impressed many and I take inspiration from him. This is true that we were hailing his good quality in the procession," Hari Singh Panwa, who organised the tableau told DH.
However, the police are yet to take any action against the organisers.
"We have not received any complaint. Only a few media persons informed us. We may also take a cognisance on the basis of reports in case no one lodges a complaint", Deputy Commissioner of Police (Jodhpur East) Amandeep Singh said.
