Woman, toddler die in road accident

In a tragic road accident a 27-year-old woman along with her one-year-old son died on the spot, while her husband and another passenger escaped with minor injuries, on Monday.

The family of three along with another family friend were travelling to Jangareddygudem in West Godavari district from Pendurthi in Visakhapatnam, when the front tyre of the car in which they were travelling burst suddenly near Parwadapalem Junction in Kasimkota mandal. The car was speeding along and unable to control it, the driver, husband of the deceased, rammed the median and it crashed over to the other side. The lorry on the other side of the median smashed into the car.

The deceased has been identified as P. Swapnika (27) and her son Mahanvita.

According to the police, P. Suresh, husband of the deceased who works as a correspondent in a private college at Pendurthi, was going to Jangareddygudem, their native place, to celebrate Swapanika’s birthday that incidentally falls on Monday. And also plan and make arrangements for the first birthday of their son that was to be celebrated on April 4. A case has been booked and investigation is on.
