The Indian diaspora is the highest as compared to the countries all over the world. Over 15 million migrants from India are living abroad, as reported in a study conducted by the UN Population Division. International migration data shows Indians make up the biggest population living outside their country of birth.

Mexicans, Russians and Chinese are the next big settlers of the lot after Indians. Pakistan remains among the top countries for Indian settlers because of the large post-Partition influx. It is because of India’s largest number of migrants abroad that the country receives the largest amount of remittance, noted to be 68.91 billion dollars. The report further stated that the largest migration corridor from India is to the United Arab Emirates, where in 2015 nearly 3.5 million Indians were residing.

The United States of America was noted to be the top destination for migrants all over the world in 2015, with 46.6 million migrants moving to the US in that year. It is rather disturbing to note that 51 percent of the total refugee population comprised of the people under the age of 18 years.
