NEW DELHI: A fortnight after a 29-year-old man died due to ‘natural causes’, the police exhumed his body after allegations from his family that he was poisoned by his wife. The family alleged that the wife had an extramarital affair which was discovered by the husband, which led to his death. The incident took place in outer Delhi’s
Begumpur, where investigations in the case are ongoing.
Cops said that as per the allegations, two months ago the victim found that his wife was having an affair with his cousin. When he had confronted her, she had accepted it.
Police said that the wife approached them two days after the man’s death on March 12, stating that she has been asked to leave her husband’s house. A case was registered. However, the man’s family members got a counter report filed against the woman, alleging that she killed her husband by giving him ‘slow poison’, before he finally succumbed and died due to brain haemorrhage.
The man’s body, which was buried 15 days ago, was exhumed by the cops on Tuesday morning after taking permission from the area SDM after which the body was sent for postmortem examination at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital.
“A case has been registered at the Begampur police station and we are awaiting the autopsy report to ascertain the reason behind his death,” said a senior police official.
