ANALYSIS/OPINION:

While there is a great deal of blame to go around for the monstrous budget “deal,” we should not forget ourselves. Albert Einstein once defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result each time. The political version is sending the same people back to Washington and expecting them to behave differently.

We sent back the same Democrats and we are getting the same lust for more spending, increased government and curbing our liberties. We sent back the same establishment Republicans and we are getting the same squishiness and pre-emptive surrender to the Democrats. By “establishment Republicans,” I deliberately leave out the honorable members of the House Freedom Caucus, and Constitution-minded senators such as Ted Cruz, Mike Lee and Rand Paul.

If President Trump made one major blunder during his campaign, it was to place all his emphasis on the office of the presidency. He needs a Congress that will work with him to implement his agenda. Therefore, this November I urge everyone to vote for congressional candidates from the Americanist/patriot movement. Imagine a House of Representatives in full agreement with the Freedom Caucus, and a Senate that votes and thinks like Messrs. Cruz, Lee and Paul.

Mr. Trump spoke of “draining the swamp.” Congress is the source of much of the polluted water, and no president can drain that swamp. We, the voters must do so. Every election day is a chance to do that.
