The Saibaba temple in Shirdi received donation in cash and kind worth Rs 4.34 crore during the three-day Ram Navmi festival which concluded yesterday, a top official said today.
Shri Saibaba Sansthan Trust (SSST) Chief Executive Officer Rubal Agarwal said donations included cash and gold and silver ornaments.
"The shrine received cash donations worth Rs 3.39 crore, and gold and silver ornaments and articles worth Rs 88,72,000 during the festival period. Besides, Rs 6.30 lakh were received through foreign currencies," she said.
The donations were made by devotees from various parts of the country and abroad through modes like online transfer, credit/debit card deposits, money orders, demand drafts etc.
A Mumbai-based devotee, identified as Jayantibhai, donated a gold 'panchaarti' weighing 1.35 kg worth Rs 39 lakh while Chirala Chennareddy from Nellore in Andhra Pradesh donated 1.13 kg gold "padukas" (slippers) worth Rs 32.30 lakh, Agarwal added.
She said around 1.93 lakh devotees visited the temple during the festival.
