The Director General of Police (DGP) Muktesh Chander, on Monday, appeared before the state Lokayukta and recorded his statement in connection with a suo motu proceeding initiated against former deputy inspector general of police (DIG) Vimal Gupta, and two police officials in bribery case.
The anti-corruption ombudsman has now summoned the investigating officer in the case, deputy superintendent of police (ACB) Suchita Desai, to appear before him for recording her statement on March 29.
Dy SP Desai will be the third senior police officer to be examined in the case.
The then ACB Superintendent of Police Bosco George, who had investigated the allegations against Gupta, has also recorded his statement before the Lokayukta.
Gupta came under the scanner following a bribery allegation made against him over closing a departmental enquiry against police sub-inspector Devyani Ambekar.
The Goa police had thereafter suspended Ambekar and Chetan Morajkar (police constable) for allegedly attempting to bribe Gupta to close departmental enquiry against the PSI.
