Vernell C. "Nana" Corbett, 91, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, sister, and aunt passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2018, at Fairmont Crossing in Amherst, Va. Born in Amherst County, Va., on September 1, 1926, to the late T. Epperson and Sally A. Campbell. She is survived by a daughter, Becci C. Kidd; son, M. Glenn Corbett (Anita); and a son-in-law, Jeff Kidd. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Amanda Gilbert (James) of Madison Heights, Scott Kidd of Clearwater, Fla., Jared Kidd of Madison Heights, and Makala Corbett of Madison Heights. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren; a brother, Tinch Campbell (Lois) of Tye River, Va.; a sister, Shirley Miller (Preston) of Madison Heights; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years Marvin; her granddaughter, Erica; five brothers and three sisters. Vernell was an excellent seamstress, gardener, and cook. She enjoyed preparing meals for all her family and friends. She loved and enjoyed talking about her God Jehovah. She awaits a resurrection into Paradise. She was a long time member of the Kingdom Hall in Amherst, Va. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Meadows staff at Fairmont Crossing, especially to her special caregivers Kathy, Willie, Denise, and many others. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 26, 2018, at Whitten Monelison Chapel. A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Briarwood Memorial Gardens with Curt Mawyer and Will Stout officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to a charity of your choice. Whitten Monelison Chapel is assisting the Corbett family (929-5712).
