The notion in a recent article that whites should pack their bags and leave if they don’t want to help fix things is nothing but a cover up for the perpetuation by many of hatred of whites.
Firstly, get your facts right. White farmers never asked to go to Australia and secondly don’t be so naïve as to believe that farm killings are not due to racism because many are but it is not convenient for the government to admit it.
Yes, the general level of violence is equally terrible. Much innuendo about whites by some authors but nothing about the Malemas of this world and other groupings with their anti-white and anti-farmer hate speech and slogans. It's hurtful to whites but they are allowed to get away with it. Why?
What I can say is that by far the predominance of whites want this country to work. Clearly the naysayers have no idea how many white people and private groups go out of their way and at private expense to help those in need. A few more things need to be considered by those ‘white haters’ out there.
- Stop blaming the current generations of whites for the mess. We cannot be held accountable forever more for sins of some of our forefathers.
- White did not steal all land. They bought it or bartered for it. Many black tribes were as much immigrants to South Africa as are whites were.
- Black people do not have an automatic right to all of the land and never did. In the 1860s the black and white populations were on an even keel.
- Due to the subsequent and substantial increase in the black population, yes, land distribution is needed, and yes, too many farmers have too much land, and yes, of course we need to uplift the poor but don’t blame all these woes on whites. Yes those who did steal land must give it back or compensate.
- The sooner black people start holding their own to account the better. The current state of pathetic service delivery is due to the absolute dismal inability of most ANC led councils and their cadres to do a proper and honest job. These civil servants grab their overstated salaries and perks with glee yet do little else and so deprive the poor of services that we the tax payers provide funding for. Yet many have the temerity to blame white people for all and sundry?
So you out there who hate white people get off your soap boxes, us pale faces are not going anywhere. We are here to help rebuild but we are not here to be blamed in perpetuity whilst the bulk of our politicians and civil servants are too lazy, too inept or too corrupt to do their jobs properly and allow waste and theft or loss of billions of rand meant for service delivery. This is why we are in a mess. If the billions of rands whittled away or wasted had been used effectively millions in poverty would be far better off.
So redirect your request for those who don’t want to rebuild our country to leave rather at those people actually responsible for the current mess. Go to the erring councils and MPs and offer to pack their bags rather, but you’ll need to hire many busses to give them a lift to the airport.
