3-month-old baby rescued; father, paramour arrested
The Delhi Police on Sunday claimed to have rescued a three-month-old girl. Ironically, police found that the plan to kidnap the infant was hatched by her own father who wanted to part ways from his wife and start a new life with another woman.
According to police, Shyambabu, alias Deepak (30) and his girlfriend Laxmi (28) have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
The kidnapping was reported to police on Friday around 7.30 pm from Kalandhar colony in Seemapuri area.
A senior police officer said, “Deepak informed us that someone had kidnapped his three-month-old daughter from his house. A team under SHO Seemapuri started investigation.
“During the course of investigation, we scanned all the CCTV cameras near the house and also questioned the family members and the locals in the vicinity. It was then that a five-year-old boy informed us that he saw a woman carrying the three-month-old girl.”
On questioning the family members, it was found that Deepak was having an affair with a woman named Laxmi (28). When our team questioned Deepak, he informed us that he is no longer in touch with the woman.
However, our team went to that woman’s residence in Dilshad Garden area and found that she has separated from her husband and living with her nine-year-old son for the past two months. During sustained questioning, Laxmi broke down and confessed that she kidnapped the baby girl
“On her instance, the baby was recovered from Chamunda Devi temple in Ghaziabad. The child was rescued and is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Ghaziabad. Laxmi further informed police that she was having an affair with Deepak and had stopped living with her husband. To get rid of his wife, Deepak hatched the plan to kidnap his baby girl so that he can easily start living with Laxmi.
On the day of the kidnapping, there was a kirtan at Deepak’s house. Since Deepak’s wife was busy in the function and his mother was also not at home, Laxmi picked the baby who was sleeping near the main door of the house,” added the police officer.
