Bring law to build Ram temple: Togadia tells Modi

Vishwa Hindu Parishad working president Pravin Togadia on Sunday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to bring a law in Parliament to build a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya at the earliest.

Addressing a press conference here on Ram Navami, Mr.Togadia said, “Everyone talks his own Man Ki Baat these days but it’s time we listen to Lord Ram and his Man Ki Baat. We all have a home to live but Lord Ram still doesn't have a home in Ayodhya.”

Referring to the Prime Minister, the VHP leader asked, “Mota Bhai (big brother), now you have formed governments in U.P., Delhi and even in Jammu and Kashmir. But why is there no movement on Ram temple?”

Pointing out that the Ram Mandir agitation started in 1984 when the case was in the court, Mr Togadia said, “Why did you not appoint a lawyer rather than launching an agitation if you had to build it through court? Thousands of Kar Sevakas went to jail, many faced bullets in the agitation for Ram. Now the time is demanding an answer from you.”

Mr. Togadia claimed that he was in Ayodhya on December 6, 1992 when Babri Masjid was demolished.

Without mentioning the ruling BJP at the centre, he said, “There were some people then who said that protest was needed to form public opinion which will in turn bring a favourable government. We will then bring a law in Parliament and build the temple. But today, can anyone guarantee that only the temple will be build there and not a Masjid even after the court ruling? Even if the Supreme Court gives verdict in favour of Hindus, chances are that the adjoining land would be given to the Muslims for constructing a Masjid. Would the Hindus tolerate a Masjid adjacent to the Ram Mandir? There is only one way out of it. It is to bring a law in Parliament.”

Palampur resolution

Reminding the BJP of its resolution at the Palampur meet, the VHP leader asked the ruling party to come out with a time bound timetable on the construction of Ram Temple.

“But the PM is not ready to talk of the law. I know Modi personally. If you can meet Nawaz Sharif, please meet your childhood friend Pravin Togadia and discuss as to when will you bring the law in Parliament. Enough is enough now. What happened to the promises 20 crore jobs, relief to farmers and other promises you made. The PM is my elder brother. I cannot threaten him, I can only pray to him,” the VHP leader added claiming that his concerns were not addressed in internal meetings forcing him to go public.
