Juan Martin del Potro to follow Roger Federer’s lead and make Rafael Nadal’s life easier
JUAN MARTIN DEL POTRO has admitted that he could follow Roger Federer’s leader and skip the clay season.
The Argentine is currently competing in his fourth consecutive tournament but he probably did not expect to reach the final in his last two.
Del Potro won the Mexican Open and BNP Paribas Open before he headed into the Miami Open this week.
And he says his body is feeling the strain of non-stop tennis and he could also miss the upcoming French Open in a bid to be fit for Wimbledon.
Rafael Nadal is expected to return from injury in time for Roland Garros - but he will be the heavy favourite to win the event following another potential withdrawal from a top 10 player.

I will have a break, I will see what tournament we play on clay, because my body feels that surface
“I came here to play another tournament. It will be my fourth tournament in a row,” Del Potro said after progressing to the third round in Miami.
“I’m tired. And mentally and physically it's not easy to deal with all of these emotions, no.
“But then I will have a break, I will see what tournament we play on clay, because my body feels that surface.

“I want to stay healthy during the whole season. That's my biggest goal.”
Andy Murray could also miss the French Open as he continues his injury rehab.
Novak Djokovic is still some way off top form and Del Potro's absence in Paris would certainly make Nadal breathe an extra sigh of relief, especially given his recent form.
