FAYETTE — Three more certified nursing assistants are accused of having past sexual relationships with patients at a residential facility where they worked.
Earlier this month, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office arrested Megan M. Penney, 26, of Clermont, and Paige L. Johanningmeier, 23, of Elgin, after learning that the women had sexual relationships with two patients who had been court ordered to Prairie View Management Facility, where the women had been employed. Authorities said the patients had walked away from the facility and were “harbored” by Penney and Johanningmeier.
The two women each face charges of sexual exploitation by a counselor, therapist or school employee, a Class D felony.
The sheriff’s office announced on Monday additional arrests that resulted from their investigation. Authorities said that three former certified nursing assistants had previously been arrested from the facility for “unhealthy relationships with parents.” Carolyn M. Wiedrich, 44, of Sumner had a sexual relationship with a patient in 2015, authorities said. Shelby M. Sebring, 24, of Hawkeye; and Jamie L. Pagel, 32, of Sumner, had sexual relationships with patients in 2016, the sheriff’s office said.
“These CNAs have violated the trust of not only their employers, but also the families of these patients who put their trust in these individuals to care for their family members,” said Fayette County Sheriff Marty Fisher in a statement.
The three women also face charges of sexual exploitation by a counselor, therapist or school employee.
