Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat today said the opposition Congress had no moral right to raise the Lokayukta bill issue as it did not act on it when in power
He said the Congress held a demonstration outside the state Assembly here, besides creating a ruckus in the House over the delay in bringing a legislation on the Lokayukta issue.
"The Lokayukta bill is already a property of the Assembly and the party which did not move an inch on it despite being in office for five years has no moral right to raise a hue and cry over it," Rawat said when asked to comment on the Congress' stand on the issue.
The chief minister said that the state government's top priority was running a corruption-free government and stern action had been taken against the corrupt in the last one year.
He described the Budget Session of the state assembly, which concluded here today as very important, and said that the House was run for six working days in Gairsain which was a record in itself.
Rawat said a number of important legislations were passed during the productive session with the state government replying to 13 questions during the Question Hour each day.
He also congratulated Speaker Prem Chand Agarwal forthe smooth conduct of the proceedings of the House.
