COIMBATORE: Chief minister
Edappadi K Palaniswami on Monday said
Tamil Nadu will take a legal recourse if the Centre fails to form a
Cauvery management board before March 29, as directed by the Supreme Court.
“As per the Supreme Court order, by March 29, the Centre has to set up the board. We are hopeful that they would form it soon. If they don’t, we will take the legal course,” said Palaniswami. He was speaking at a mass marriage ceremony here.
However, the chief minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said the Centre had sanctioned several projects for Tamil Nadu and the recent one was the announcement of bus ports for Coimbatore, Salem and Madurai.
The chief minister said the DMK was responsible for the delay in resolving Cauvery dispute. “For more than 14 years when they were in power at the Centre and in the state, they did nothing as they were just power hungry. We took effort and made the right moves. We will ensure that the board is set up as per the Supreme Court order,” he said.
Attacking Stalin who had recently said the state government could be toppled any moment, the chief minister said nothing could topple this government. “For the past one year, there have been numerous conspiracies against us and our government but none could stand in front of us. We have an army of 1.5 crore cadres who have fought the battle with us and we will continue to provide good governance to the people of Tamil Nadu,” said Palaniswami.
