Realtor shot at by partner over financial disputes

Accused reportedly surrenders

Vizianagaram, a relatively peaceful town, was late on Saturday night jolted by gun shots.

According to police, Botcha Mohan, a realtor, opened fire at N. Appala Raju, also a realtor, at the latter’s office near the Mayuri junction. Mr. Raju received six bullet injuries and was battling for his life. He was admitted to a private hospital here and shifted to a corporate hospital in Visakhapatnam. Both belonged to Visakhapatnam district.

Mr. Appala Raju, who hailed from Bhimili area, has financial disputes with Mr. Mohan who belonged to PM Palem of Visakhapatnam. Both have been partners in land deals since 2016. After a heated argument in the latter’s ‘Mayan Homes’ office, Mr. Mohan opened fire with a country-made pistol. When Mr. Appala Raju’s assistant Bangarppa raised an alarm, Mr. Mohan tried to open fire at him too and fled.

He reportedly surrendered before the cops in the early hours of Sunday.

Vizinagaram SP G. Pala Raju, Dy.SP AV Ramana and CI Chandrasekhar visited the spot and formed six teams to probe the incident. They also interacted with their counterparts of Visakhapatnam. Mr. Pala Raju said the department was probing various angles. “We will verify the possession of the pistol and involvement of others in the dispute,” he added.
