Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met, Friday, with his Indian counterpart Minister Sushma Swaraj, in New Delhi where they discussed ways to boost bilateral cooperation in all fields between the two countries, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced.
During the meeting, the two ministers signed two general framework agreements, one for political and the other for economic cooperation between the two countries.
Egyptian-Indian economic cooperation was a central focus of the meeting, with Minister Shoukry inviting Indian investors in ongoing Egyptian initiatives such as the Suez Canal Development Project.
The two ministers also discussed developments in ongoing war on terrorism, as well as regional developments in the Middle East, especially in Syria as well the status of the peace process between the Israelis and Palestinians.
Mr Shoukry also said that Egypt was looking forward to the visit of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Egypt.
Modi was invited to visit Egypt by President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi during the latter's visit to India in September 2016.
From her side, India's FM Swaraj welcomed the visit of FM Shoukry to New Delhi.
Minister Shoukry is currently in New Delhi to head Egypt's delegation to the 7th session of the joint Egyptian-Indian committee.
