A fire Monday afternoon claimed the life of one person inside a residential storage building in Frederica, according to the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s office.
The Frederica Volunteer Fire Company was called about 1:30 p.m. to the first block of Saint Agnes Street in Frederica only to find the storage building behind the home "engulfed in flames," said Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.
Investigators have not determined what caused the fire or where it originated, he said.
The victim was transferred to the state Division of Forensic Science, where an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Fire officials have not identified the person.
Investigators estimated the fire damage at about $10,000. No other injuries were reported.
