PAW PAW – Two people are dead after a two-vehicle collision Saturday on Route 30 just east of Johnson Road in Lee County, according to a news release from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office.

Lee County Sheriff’s deputies responded at 10:48 p.m. Saturday They found that a semi driven by Dale Yardley, 65, of Shabbona was traveling east on Route 30 when a westbound car drove into the eastbound lane and collided with the semi.

The driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene. Their names are being withheld pending notification of family members. Yardley refused medical treatment at the scene.

Lee County Coroner Jesse Partington said an autopsy is planned for the driver of the car.

The crash remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office.
