Class IX, XI students detained to show 100% results, claims Vijender

‘Will raise the matter in the Delhi Assembly’

Students studying in Classes IX and XI at unaided schools were “being detained to show 100% results” in subsequent classes, said the Leader of the Opposition in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta here on Sunday.

The alleged scheme was in place across Classes IX and XI at 1,500 unaided schools in the Capital, he alleged.

“Students in these classes are being detained, in turn putting extraordinary pressure on young minds. The objective is to show 100% results in board examinations of Classes X and XII,” the BJP leader said.

‘Inferiority complex’

In the process, the students have in the process begun to suffer from an inferiority complex, he added.

He said he will raise the issue in the Delhi Assembly to draw the government’s attention.

“The Noida girl who was a student of a Delhi school was under so much pressure that she had no option but to commit suicide. I call upon the Delhi government to ensure that such excesses are not committed on children of sensitive ages,” Mr. Gupta said.

Fearless atmosphere

The Rohini legislator further called upon both the Delhi government and school authorities to ensure that students studying in Classes IX and XII are allowed to study in a “fearless and confidence-building atmosphere”.
