Congress quells govt.’s claims of development

‘Town facing several civic issues like drinking water problem’

The Congress Legislature Party deputy leader P. Sudhakar Reddy has alleged that the State government has failed to launch development works in Bhadrachalam despite making repeated claims on sanction of ₹100 crore for the development of the temple town.

Talking to newsmen after attending the celestial wedding on the occasion of Sri Rama Navami in Bhadrachalam on Monday, Mr. Reddy said the absence of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao in the divine wedding was unfortunate.

The town is grappling with drinking water problem and various other civic issues, he pointed out.

Reiterating his demand for changing the design of the Polavaram project, he said the project, if constructed according to the present design in Andhra Pradesh, would entail submergence of several parts of Bhadrachalam division. The State government should take initiative to ensure change of the project design and also the re-transfer of four villages including Purushothapatnam from Andhra Pradesh to Bhadrachalam division of Telangana.

He said for the first time the elected public representatives were made to purchase tickets to watch the celestial wedding in Bhadrachalam.

The premises of the sacred Kalyana Mandapam was virtually turned into pink colour resembling the ruling TRS party flag colour , he alleged.
