570 tribal youths land jobs with reputed firms

Around 1,400 job aspirants attended mega job mela

The mega job mela jointly conducted by the district police and the Integrated Tribal Development Agency, Utnoor, on March 24 at Ichoda mandal head quarters has helped 570 tribal youth land jobs with reputed firms.

Superintendent of Police Vishnu S. Warrier, who personally supervised the proceedings, said this was the first time that such a large number of tribal youths secured employment in one go.

Nearly 26 companies were present to recruit youngsters at the job mela, offering salaries ranging between ₹9,000 and ₹20,000 per month.

As many as 1,400 youth from the mandals of Neredigonda, Boath, Bazarhatnoor, Ichoda, Gudihatnoor and Sirikonda mandal appeared for selection.

The job mela was part of the efforts being made by the government to ensure welfare of deprived tribal sections in society. The SP said the exercise helped dispel doubt among tribal youth that they were not competent enough for jobs.

Mr. Warrier assured that more such events would be taken up in future in addition to providing training and skill development of tribal youth.
