The Cleveland Browns figure to receive plenty of unsolicited advice about what they should do with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft.
However, former UCLA head coach Jim Mora may have a little bit more insight than the average fan.
Mora recruited and mentored quarterback Josh Rosen, who is among the candidates the Browns reportedly are considering with the top pick. But he said Monday on NFL Network USC quarterback Sam Darnold would be a better fit in Cleveland.
"I think [he has] that blue-collar, gritty attitude. I think his teammates will love him. I think the city will love him. He'll say the right things. He'll come in and represent well. I think he kind of represents what Cleveland is," Mora said.
Of course, he also had high praise for his former player, Rosen.
"If I was one of the New York teams, I'd take Josh like that," he said of the New York Giants, who have the second pick, and the New York Jets, who traded up to the No. 3 spot.
"I think some day hopefully we're talking about the Peyton Manning-Tom Brady debate," Mora said. "Which one's better? I think both of those guys can be those types of guys."
In USA TODAY Sports' most recent mock draft, the Browns are pegged to take Darnold with the first pick, with Rosen sliding to the Denver Broncos at No. 5.
Mora, who previously coached in the NFL with the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks, was fired in November after six seasons at UCLA.
