
GERALD BLANCHARD Hopkinton Gerald Blanchard, 68, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at St. Luke's Catholic Church, Hopkinton, with interment in the Hopkinton Cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4 until 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church and after 9:30 a.m. Thursday until service time. Father Paul Baldwin will officiate at the services. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; a daughter, Carrie (Ben Randolph) O'Connell, Marion; two grandchildren, Mia O'Connell and Oliver Randolph; his aunt, Wilma Parsons, Cedar Rapids; his mother and father-in-law, Francis and Lois Boeding, Manchester; and his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Doris (Dick) Cambridge, Dan (Karen) Boeding, Dennis (Carolyn) Boeding, Susan (Gerald) Beitz, Don (Kathy) Boeding, Lori (Darrell) Reyner, Vic (Leann) Boeding, Cheri (Mitch) Orcutt, Dick Milroy and Pat Boeding. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tammy; his brother, Gary; a sister-in-law, Joyce Milroy; and brothers-in-law, David Boeding and Tom Schlimmer. Gerald Dean Blanchard was born Oct. 13, 1949, in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of Samuel and Doris Parsons Blanchard. Gerald attended West High School in Waterloo. He was employed at LeFebure in Cedar Rapids for several years. Gerald married Mary Ann Boeding on April 18, 1969, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Hopkinton. Gerald was a semi owner operator for many years. More recently, he drove for Murray Grain, Crop Mate Fertilizer and Bard Concrete. He and Mary Ann had owned and operated the Show Room in Hopkinton since 1981. When he wasn't working, Gerald enjoyed going camping with the family and hunting and fishing. He and Mary Ann made yearly trips to Las Vegas over Super Bowl weekend.
