VARANASI: President
Ram Nath Kovind said that Varanasi would become the
gateway to east India due to developing highways, waterways, air connectivity and freight corridor.
Kovind was addressing a function hosted by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and state's skill development department at
Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Center here on Monday. He laid two projects of NHAI and distributed certificates among beneficiaries of skill development programme.
The president lauded efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for focussing on development of the oldest city which has kept its ancient culture and traditions alive. Now this city is getting global recognition, he said, mentioning recent visits of Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and presidents of France and Germany in this regard.
