Calangute Association’s Nigerian striker Kouame Joseph displayed what could be termed a fabulous show of skill and mettle after shooting four goals against SCC Cavelossim, handing his team a 4-1 victory in the Goa Professional League match organized by GFA played at Duler stadium, here on Monday.
From Sunday’s win Calangute Association stands on 3rd position with 32 points from 21 matches, while Cavelossim sits low at 11th with 12 points from 17 matches.
All the goals came in the second session of play with Nigerian Kouame M. Joseph netting all four goals for Calangute, while Samson Simoes pulled a goal for Cavelossim.
With Calangute Association having beaten FC de Bardez by 5-0 margin and SCC Cavelossim having drawn with FC de Bardez by 2-2 margin, the teams fought almost on equal footing in the first session, as they went back to the changing room locked in a goalless draw.
Two neat lobs by Kouame first saw Blake Haldankar’s strike in the very 40th second of the match being brilliantly collected by Cavelossim keeper Razak Devsor and in the 29th minute Selwyn D’Souza saw his goal bound shot hit the side of the post and travel out.
At the other end Cavelossim had two free kicks to take the lead. In the 7th minute Rohan Kamble’s 20-yard went just over the horizontal bar, while in the 10th minute Moises D’Sa saw his free kick being saved with a diving save by keeper Jason D’Mello.
On crossing, ten minutes into the match and Calangute’s Kouame collected a long goal-kick from his keeper Jason after cutting past the rival defender entered the penalty box and scored, 1-0.
Seven minutes later Kouame netted his brace as he headed the ball into the goal off a cross from Josley Dias, 2-0.
Cavelossim did try to come back into the match with Samson Simoes getting hold of a pass from Samson Fernandes which cut past the rival defender and placed the ball into the far corner of the goal leaving keeper Jason rooted to the ground, now the score was 2-1.
However Cavelossim’s joy lasted for a short period when in the 82nd minute referee Prasad Surlekar caught Cavelossim’s Michael Silva in the act of bringing down Blake Haldankar inside the penalty box. Kouame stepped forward and netted his hat-trick, 3-1.
Three minutes before the end of the regulation time, Calangute’s Blake Haldankar moved from the right flank and flashed a low cross at the goal, which was tapped into the goal by Kouame to make it 4-1.
