An overloaded autorickshaw fell into a roadside agricultural well in Nizamabad district of Telangana on Sunday killing ten including three women and six children.
The incident occurred when the three-wheeler going from Mupkal to Mendora of Balkonda Block with 14 passengers fell into the well.
The three-wheeler was on its way to Mendora which is 54 km from district headquarters of Nizamabad. However, the driver of the three-wheeler lost control over the vehicle and veered into the open agricultural well. The firefighting team rushed to the spot and saved four lives.
Locals along with the rescue team pulled eight bodies from well. Some of the eyewitnesses say that there were at least 18 people in the auto at the time of the accident and the death toll could increase. District officials have summoned expert swimmers to look for more bodies in well.
The Nizamabad police also suspect the accident might have resulted due to overloading of autorickshaw. A case is registered against the driver and investigation is going on.
