In Kerala, an NIA special court sentenced a woman operative to seven years rigorous imprisonment in connection with IS recruitment case. Special Judge S Santhosh Kumar awarded the sentence after convicting Yasmeen Mohammed Zahid under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The special court in Ernakulam also imposed a fine of 25 thousand rupees on her. Zahid, who hailed from Bihar, is the second accused in the case being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). Last year, the NIA had filed the chargesheet against IS operatives Abdul Rashid Abdulla as the main accused. He has been accused of motivating a number of youths from Kasaragod to join the Islamic State.
