How Tiger Woods' Masters preparations could be disrupted by EXPLOSIVE new book
TIGER WOODS’ predicted assault on the Masters next month following an astonishing return to form after back surgery could be dealt a body blow with the publication of an explosive new book.
Tawdry tales involving blood on a favourite lounge chair and shaving cream on the walls are described in detail in the near 500-page book entitled simply ‘Tiger Woods’.
The publication goes on sale in the United States on Tuesday – just over a week ahead of the Masters, which tees off on April 5. Woods has played only a handful of tournaments this season, after successfully recovering from his fourth back operation.
But after claiming second place in the Valspar Championship in Florida and with clubhead speeds averaging second-best on the PGA Tour, the four-times Masters champion has suddenly been catapulted back in among the bookies’ favourites for the Augusta tournament.
His hopes of success won’t be helped by a book which portrays him as a man unable to show gratitude, apologise or express appreciation. The authors, Jeff Benedict and Armen Keteyian, say they have interviewed more than 250 people but not Woods, whose remarks are said to come from official tournament transcripts.
On the whole, the book revisits Woods’ past, including his now infamous infidelity, his Thanksgiving Day car crash and his return this year to competition after fusion surgery on his spine.

There is also reference to Woods’ father, Earl, allegedly being buried in a ‘hard to find’ unmarked Kansas grave and to Woods himself suffering many years of tough love.
In 2002, Woods and his then girlfriend and now ex-wife Elin Nordegren shared a rented Augusta house owned by local schoolteacher Peggy Lewis. That year Woods shot a third-round 66 and a day later won the Masters for the third time in six years.
After that seventh Major win, Woods was asked by the media how he would celebrate. Woods responded: “You know, right now I’m going to a dinner here, the Champions Dinner. I think when I get home, I’ve got to pack my suitcase and get ready for my flight. But I will celebrate. I’m not going to tell you how but I will celebrate.”
When the house was returned to Lewis, it is alleged that she found shaving cream smeared on the bedroom and bathroom walls, plates of partially eaten food under Tiger’s bed and a kitchen that looked a total mess. Lewis was so disgusted that she stayed in a local hotel that night as professional cleaners went to work at the house.

It was later alleged that Woods never paid for the house, did not leave a tip or a thank you note and that his future wife ran up a telephone bill of more than $100. “He’s never allowed in my house again,” Lewis told one of Tiger’s assistants.
Her list of grievances against the golfer included once finding her favourite lounge chair covered in blood stains.
