Six people, including three children, were injured after an elderly person drove his car in a rash and negligent manner on RR Nagar main road near Kengeri on Saturday night.
The car brushed pedestrians, leading to a series of accidents. Three vehicles were also damaged.
An angry mob thrashed Badresh D Patel (63), a resident of Ideal Homes Layout, before handing him over to the police.
The injured are Lohith (12), Manoj (9), Harshith (13), all residents of Jawaregowdanadoddi and Neelamma (38), Mayanna (37) and Ashok Kumar (56) from RR Nagar.
A Kengeri traffic police officer said the incident occurred around 9.30 pm when Patel had come to a flour mill on RR Nagar Main Road.
A group of people picked up a quarrel with him over a trivial issue and Patel tried to escape in his car.
He drove the car in a rash and negligent manner, lost control of the car and rammed it into three vehicles parked along the roadside and later brushed the people who were eating chats.
The RR Nagar police rushed to the spot and took Patel into custody. Patel sustained multiple injuries and has been admitted to a hospital.
The Kengeri traffic police have registered a case and further investigation is on.
