Prithviraj Chavan says 2019 polls will be the last in India if BJP wins

Former Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan said the 2019 Lok Sabha elections would be the last general elections in India if the BJP came to power again

Clarifying his stand on PM Modi, Chavan said that the direction in which the prime minister is leading the country is reflective of his pure dictatorial attitude. The attitude, said Chavan, clearly matches that of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and that's the reason why he gets the its support.

The former CM of Maharashtra said that he was sure that the BJP would change the constitution if it got a majority in both the Houses of Parliament.

Chavan alleged that Modi government does not care for judiciary, which he said was evident when four Supreme Court Justices recently dissented openly.

Prithviraj Chavan alongwith other senior Congress leader, Ashok Chouhan, have extended their support to Anna Hazare's fast unto death.

Speaking to India Today, they said it would be wrong for the Modi government to prevent his supporters from travelling to Delhi's Ram Lila Maidan.

Such 'dictatorship', they said, could be witnessed throughout the nation.

Earlier this week, Anna Hazare started an indefinite hunger strike to press for his demand of appointing a Lokpal at the level of central government. This comes nearly seven years after his anti-corruption movement caught the imagination of millions of Indians during the tenure of the UPA government.
