Coronation Street cast: Nicola Thorp opens up about being ‘EXPOSED’ in Lycra outfit
CORONATION STREET star Nicola Thorp, who portrays Pat Phelan’s daughter Nicola Rubinstein in the ITV soap, has spoken out about donning a skintight costume for her Sport Relief challenge in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk.
The actress made her first appearance in Coronation Street last summer, when her character Nicola Rubinstein arrived in Weatherfield.
But the soap regular starred on the small screen in a very different format on Friday, as she took part in the ITV versus BBC boat race in aid of Sport Relief.
The Sport Relief Clash of the Channels Boat Race saw the 29-year-old joined by ITV colleagues including Good Morning Britain presenter Charlotte Hawkins and Emmerdale actor Chris Bisson, as they went head to head with a team of BBC stars.
In an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk this week, Nicola opened up about the race, before letting slip that she was concerned about being “exposed”.
When quizzed about how her training for the event had been going, she said: “It was fantastic, it’s really cold out there at the moment.
“We’re going to be going along the Manchester Ship Canal – we’re going to be very exposed.”
Explaining that she had reservations about braving the cold temperatures, she went on: “We’re going to be in Lycra so we’re going to be exposed in more than one way.”
But, the actress explained that she wasn’t overly concerned about the skimpy costume adding: “There’s way more important things at hand than me being seen in Lycra I can tell you.

“But, I just hope I can fit into the costume,” she laughed.
Meanwhile, Nicola also revealed that she feared her future at Coronation Street may depend on the outcome of the race.
Explaining that her co-stars had been supporting her with messages of motivation, she jokingly spilled: “They’re just telling me, ‘Don’t lose. Whatever you do, don’t lose. We’ll be watching.’
