German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier will be on a two-day visit to Chennai from today. Mr Steinmeier will commence his engagements by paying a visit to the Daimler India Commercial Vehicles Factory, a subsidiary of the German Daimler, in Oragadam, near Chennai in the afternoon.

After taking a complete tour of the massive premises, which sells commercial vehicles in the name of Bharat Benz, the German President will interact with top executives of the company. He will also visit the Indian Institute of Technology's research park in Chennai.

Tomorrow, President Steinmeier will visit the Shore temple in Mahabalipuram, the ancient historic town known for its stone temple and other works of architecture before heading back. Security has been tightened in and around Chennai in view of President's visit.
