Taxi drivers in need of assistance to file the income tax returns can approach a startup 'Cab Dost'.

The startup has been conducting a campaign for the past three years to help the drivers file income tax returns. About 1,500 drivers have benefited from this campaign.

Yamuna Shastry, the founder of Cab Dost, said the aim was to bring drivers to the mainstream by making them eligible to borrow from state institutions instead of private money lenders.

"Many cab drivers do not know about refunding of TDS (tax deducted at source). In the past two and half years, we have helped them claim the refund to the tune of Rs 1 crore," Yamuna said.

Yamuna said Monday was the last day for free assistance following which they will charge Rs 500 per driver.
