Fujairah police have announced that the boy allegedly mauled by stray dogs on Friday was actually attacked by his and his brother's pet wild dogs.
The Criminal Investigations Department of the Fujairah police launched intensive investigations to identify the hideout of the stray dogs involved in the incident.
"The bitten boy, along with his elder brother and his friend were walking two wild dogs of theirs on Al Faisal Corniche when they suddenly attacked the young boy, identified as Ammar A."
The elder brother and friend managed to free Ammar after he was bitten in his leg, back, and neck by the two wild dogs, he added.
"When asked, the elder brother told the police that the dogs were his, and showed the police their hideouts first at Al Qariya area, then they were moved to Al Badiya area."
The two wild dogs were fetched and kept in the police dog shelter of the Fujairah police.
"The case was referred to the prosecution for interrogation," they said, urging the public to avoid such hazardous practices.
Earlier, Fujairah police had been alerted that a 13-year-old Emirati boy sustained moderate injuries after a stray dog mauled him at Faisal area in the emirate of Fujairah.
The boy was reportedly picnicking at the Faisal Corniche when the wild dog appeared from nowhere and attacked him fiercely.
"The young boy, who received moderate injuries and bruises in his leg, neck, and back, was rushed to the Fujairah hospital for treatment and medical care."
Medical sources said the boy was bleeding from different parts of his body when he was admitted to the emergency section of the hospital.
"Having been shifted to the hospital in time and rightly received the right vaccination, have helped contain the case, and the boy's condition is stable now."
