Union Minister KJ Alphons on Sunday slammed critics of the Aadhaar unique identification system in an interview with the news agency ANI, providing an example of what he appeared to suggest was hypocritical behaviour.

"I filled up to 10 pages for US Visa form. We have absolutely no problem giving our fingerprints and getting body naked before the white man at all. When your own government asks for your name and address, there is a massive revolution saying it's (an) intrusion in privacy," ANI quoted Alphons as saying.

Alphons was in defense-mode later too, when he said allegations that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's app released user information to third party domains were "fake stories."

"You think Prime Minister is going to give your data to a private company. Don't believe such fake stories," ANI quoted Alphons as saying.

The Prime Minister's Office issued a strong rebuttal today after Congress president Rahul Gandhi said the Narendra Modi app gives user data to the prime minister's "friends" in American companies.

This exchange came two days after a French cyber expert had claimed that the app was releasing user information to third party domain(s) without their consent.
