The Fall River Public Library will  host a hands-on acrylic painting workshop for beginners through experienced painters. The painting class will be held on Wednesday, May 2 at 6 p.m. at the Fall River Public Library, 104 North Main St. Participants will paint a finished 16-by-20 inch acrylic painting on canvas in one class, using fun and easy-to-learn techniques that enable even first-time artists to paint fast and to paint well.

This beginner-friendly class is free, and all materials are provided. The painting workshop is limited to 25 participants. It is expected to fill quickly, so please call the library at 508-324-2700, ext. 2, to ensure your place in the class. You may also sign up at the front desk.

Whether you are learning Spanish or just want to brush-up, join us on Saturday, March 31 at 3 p.m. at Portsmouth Free Public Library to practice your conversational skills in a relaxed setting. All levels and all ages are welcome.  No textbook is required, just enthusiasm. This class is taught by Cynthia who speaks fluent Spanish and visits Spain every year.  This program is free and open to the public. No sign up is required.

The Portsmouth Historical Society and Portsmouth Free Public Library will host a book discussion of “American Jezebel: The Uncommon Life of Anne Hutchinson, the Women Who Defied the Puritans,” by Eve LaPlante. The program will be held Monday, April 23 at 6:30 p.m. This will be the first of a series of discussions on books about local history selected by the Portsmouth Historical Society. Copies of this title will be available for checkout at the library one month prior to the program. This event is free and open to the public but seating is limited. Anyone who would like to learn more about their tablet, smartphone, or laptop computer is welcome to sign up for a 45-minute, one-on-one session with a library staff member. Tech help sessions can also cover introductions to software such as Microsoft Windows or Office. Sessions can be scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Mondays and 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays. SWANSEA

Do you love vampires, Godzilla or Frankenstein? On the second Saturday of each month, the Monster Squad Club will meet at 1 p.m. Join Ms. Kaija and Ms. Carol as the group explores the world of monsters in books, movies, art and games. Each month the group will learn about a different monster, make monster crafts, have monster snacks and play monster games. At the first meeting, the group will talk about favorite monsters, work on monster trading cards and create our own monsters. Join us. This program is for ages 6-12.

TIVERTON

Tiverton Public Library is located at 34 Roosevelt Ave. New hours for Tiverton libraries are: Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Tuesday from 1 to 8 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Union Public Library will be open Tuesdays only from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Cubee Craft, Thursday, March 29, 2 to 8 p.m. in the Teen Room. Come hang out and make an action figure or take a template home with you to complete at a later time. An assortment of characters will be available.

An Egg-cellent Day at the Tiverton Public Library, Saturday, March 31 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Hop on over to the children’s activity room for an egg-citing craft and egg-traordinary hunt through the library. This activity is designed for ages 3 to 10.
