NEW YORK (AP) - Police say officers on Staten Island have shot and wounded a woman armed with a handgun.
It happened at about 12:45 p.m. Sunday following a 911 report of a woman seen breaking into a home with a brick and a handgun.
Police say responding officers stopped the suspect’s vehicle and as they approached it she produced a firearm.
Police say two officers fired five shots striking the suspect once in the shoulder.
The suspect, identified as Lori Gjenashaj, was hospitalized in stable condition.
A revolver was recovered.
On Saturday, a police officer shot and wounded a knife-wielding man inside a Whole Foods store in Harlem.
